Key Dates

Early Bird Deadline
31 May 2017

The XXI World Congress on Safety and Health at Work 2017 will be held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. From 3-6 September 2017, 3,000 international occupational safety and health (OSH) professionals will gather at the Congress to share their OSH experience, knowledge and best practices. The Congress is also co-located with the International Safety and Health Exhibition to showcase latest OSH technologies, product innovation and best practices.

Technical Sessions

The technical sessions feature and develop three main topics of the Congress. The topics are:

  1. Vision Zero—From vision to reality
  2. Healthy work—Healthy life
  3. People-centred prevention

These will be divided into six technical sessions that will be held by ILO, ISSA and MOM. Two of the six sessions are:

T3: Compliance strategies and good practices on occupational safety and health

The regulatory framework is an important element of national systems of occupational safety and health (OSH) and a necessary condition for safe and healthy work environments. Compliance mechanisms, and in particular labour inspection continuously improve their strategic responses to prevent work-related accidents and diseases. The technical session will present recent strategic options and practices of national authorities to promote compliance with applicable legislation and foster good practices aiming at well-being at work. The session will include national experiences from Asia, Europe and South America.

T4: Total Workplace Safety and Health (TWSH)

Speakers from different regions and countries will share their experiences and challenges in implementing occupational health services or what is called Total WSH services in Singapore. The session would discuss possible strategies for countries to achieve the goal of providing occupational health services for all workers, as articulated under ILO's C161 Occupational health Services Convention, 1985.
